Should I go with aftermarket windshield or OEM in my case?
I have a 2024 Honda CR-V and there is a spider crack in the middle of the windshield. The dealership quoted me $2,000 for the replacement, but my insurance said that since aftermarket parts are available, they will only cover the cost of aftermarket parts and quoted $1,100. After paying the deductible, I would still need to pay about $1,500 out of pocket.
Since my car is only two years old, I’m unsure whether I should trust aftermarket parts—and, more importantly, whether I should be concerned about the quality of the windshield replacement and the calibration of the lane-keeping camera, traffic sign recognition camera, and other safety systems. In your opinion, is it reasonable to go with aftermarket glass in this situation, or is it worth paying extra for OEM parts to avoid potential issues? |
