sticking intake valves

girl friends car always a girl involved. 1994 honda civic v-tech has been parked for 18 months, she ran it hot and had a cyc. head put on then it started running hot again so she parked it. now I come along and try to get it going Had to replace water pump and t-belt. started and ran fine and cooling fans cycled good.Had car on jack stands at the time so I didnt drive it . A couple days later I went to start and no compression on some cyc. Pulled head and intake valves sticking in guides, I cleaned valves good and installed head and changed oil.drove car about 80 miles everything fine no overheating or lights came on. Next morning same thing no compression on some cyc. pulled head again so problem sticky residue on valve stems. Had hardly any gas it when I started working so I put some in it. Has that dead gas smell. What can I do to solve problem? car has 165000 miles on it ran good ,I also changed fuel filter
