06 Accord EX 4Cyl Fuel Economy

Hey guys. Just got this car in August and I only get 22 mpg. According to fuelly that is on the low side. I scanned the car with a pedestrian scanner. Nothing came up. Should I be worried? Is there something I can do better?

I noticed that if I drive more spirited I get higher mpg which doesn't make sense. I am also not that kind of driver but I did it to see what would happen. Also there is no traffic when I get out of work so I could do 80 if I wanted to.

I purposely used no heat or ac and it did not change anything. Very strange.

welcome to the forum. just suggestions, tire pressure to 36 psi. oil use 0w-20 mobil (syn), get up to highest gear as soon as traffic will allow, clean and polished car, clean air filter, current tune up, 1 foot driving if automatic.

Check your brakes too....if your brakes are dragging your rotors/drums that will decrease mileage also. What about your air filter? Change that.

I hear that if you rub your car down with Vaseline petroleum jelly it will improve you gas mileage.
The slicker the faster the air goes over it...…...
