1980 Accord
Hey
I have a rather quirky '80 Accord, and I'm wondering if you can help me out a little.
1.) 2 days ago, I was on a freeway and couldn't seem to get much power at all in the final gear. (I was decelerating from 40mph up a tiny hill) It seemed like I could not give it the amount of gas I needed then. In fact, if I let up on the gas pedal to about half way, it seemed I got almost more power. Transmission?
2.) Speedometer vibrates constantly between 2-4 mph. Any way to fix that?

Aloha john87: Welcome to the forum, enjoy your stay, hope we can help you out. If you have an automatic, trans slipping, or fluid low. If it a standard, clutch worn out.
If you have the old style cable speed-o-meter, the cable may need lube, If it is the electronic type, it may be the sending unit on the trans. That Honda must be in good conditon, 1980, hondas are good.

RE: 1980 Accord
thank you for the welcome.
1.) it is an auto unfortunately. and yes, i checked the transmission fluid and it was very low.
2.) I'm afraid I don'tunderstand.
It is in pretty good condition. It has trouble starting when it has not been run in 2+ hours, but it still starts. Works well.

RE: 1980 Accord
go to majestichonda.com, parts, and enter the info on your honda, it will show you the 80 accord has a speed-o-meter cable. If you lube your cable the fluxuating may go away. or the odometer may be going bad. Also might get yourself a service manual to help you locate and do work on the accord.

RE: 1980 Accord
How many miles does the accord have, have you check your entire exhaust system to look for holes. It it is all coming out of the exhaust tail pipe, it could be carb adjustment.
