I have a 1990 Honda accord daily driver with 256xxx miles on it. Couple months ago when I bought it the light on the dash wouldn't stay light up around which gear it was in.. Like when in d4 with the green light on around it then I can feel the car drive differently and then its not lite up anymore... Well then today driving it it would drive fine then outta nowhere it would rev up and not shift. Then I shut the car off ,turn it back on and drive it for two blocks fine then it would do it all over again... Any suggestions on what it could be .

 

sounds like the transmission is slipping.

 

I would first do a fluid change,and check to see if the fluid smelled burnt.
