Default 1994 Accord transmission problem

Hi everyone I just brought a 1994 Accord ex for my son last week it makes a griding noise when you put it in reverse. but once its in reverse it drive perfect.

Do I need to have it replacement with a used trans? or is there some type of adjustment?

Also the Speedometer doesnt work at all no movement what is the fix?

Thanks everyone for the help.

welcome to the forums... the syncros in hondas go out a lot.. try putting it in second then reverse or another gear (but keep the clutch pressed in) then pop it in reverse.. as for the speedometer it is more than likely a speedo sensor.. a local shop should be able to test it for you

variable speed sensor on the transmission, go to hondaautomotiveparts.com and put info for your car and go to transmission, or speedometer, and on the top area of the transmission there is a sensor you can change. usually this goes out.

Default 1994 Accord transmission

thanks for the help

you mentioned in the eariler post to use the clutch this is an automatic transmission what do you suggest.

Should I replace it with one from the junk yard which will cost about 400.00 to $500.00 with a 90 day warranty. please tell me what way u think I should go thanks again

i am taking my honda to a tranny shop to have mine rebuilt because i went with the cheaper route and did a tranny swap instead of a rebuild. i took mine to a shop and they did a detailed test and inspection free of charge.

i suggest doing the same. otherwise you'll be like me and have to spend another few grand because i wanted to save $200 the first time.

don't forget that they are more than that to install it as well.
