Default 1998 Accord brake dashboard light odd behavior

I have a 1998 4 cilinder Accord EX and I have a problem with my dashboard break light.

A few seconds after I start the car the light goes on. The parking break is released, the break fluid is OK and the break lights are all working.

The light stays on while driving but when I apply the brakes the light goes off. When I release the breaks, the ligth goes on. This behavior stays all the time while the car is on.

Teh brake pedal responds OK (not too hard or too deep) and the fluid is on the max mark. There are no brake fluid drops bellow the car on the garage and breaking performance is ok. ABS working normally.

I'm lost and can't figure out what is going on.

Mine just don't go away. If you drive for 2 hours it will stay lit for 2 hours going off only when the brakes are applied.

brake light on in the dash and the fluid is up to correct level. The brake fluid in the master cylinder is dirty, small screen inside is dirty. get a turkey basting tool and suck out all the old/dirty fluid ( do not drip any on the paint or engine compartment, if you do,, wash it down with water now and wipe up. If splash in the eye, wash out with water or milk fast and seek med ) clean the screen with light soap and water and dry good. replace the fluid in the master cylinder with new dot 3. bleed the brake system with new fluid when time permits.

acmech52, thank you for your reply.

That would explain why when I apply the brakes the light goes off and when released, the light goes back on?
