2001 accord lx getting p1456 error code
Good evening. Can anyone assist me in troubleshooting the p1456 error code (Evap emmissions control system leak, Fuel Tank System). I have read in the forums that the problem may be caused by a bad or untight gas cap. If this does not resolve the problem where can I find troubleshooting intructions for this error code.
Thanks

ya 99% chance its the gas cap get it pressure tested anywhere you get your smog check. next if it its not that you need to smoke test it GET IT DONE!!!!!!!! it takes a very close eye and its a bitch to do your self trust me but ya get your cap presure tested. but before anything i would just erase the code and see if it somes back on.

!998 Honda Accord LX p1456 code
After a bunch of trouble shooting and new gas caps and valves, I think this was the problem a torn O ring. (see photo) Probably the work of someone before I owned the car. I used some food grade lithium grease to help the new one on.
It was suggested that I replace the solenoid & valve, which I did, and along with new O-rings it solved the problem. But damn, I wonder if my parts were bad in the first place!
As far as pressure testing... If you drive your car for a while then crack the gas cap and you hear pressure being released, your system is more than likely holding good pressure.
I was getting intermittent smell of gas, sometimes when I parked it etc...
I've also included photos of the location of the parts I replaced and an open hose that apparently is suppose to be that way!
I bought off eBay and replaced:
17012-S84-A01
Valve Set, Solenoid
17371-S84-A01
Valve (Two-Way)
Hope this helps someone!
