2006 Accord burning oil
I don't know if I am being screwed due to me being a girl!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a 2006 Accord which I bought brand new. The past 4 oil changes my car has been a quart low when they change it, until the last time it was 2 1/2 quarts low. The Honda dealership tells me that it is common for this Honda to burn a quart of oil the first 1000 miles after every oil change. I personally have never heard of a car burning 1 quart of oil after a oil change per 1000 miles. My question is where does the oil go and why should a engine with 25,855 miles on it be burning oil? If anyone knows or has the same problem PLEASE ADVICE!!!! |
it could be a head gasket or valve seal issue. it might even be slowly leaking oil. and welcome to the forums

There's no way the car should be burning a quart of oil per 1000 miles.
This is not 'common', nor is it 'normal', especially with a relativley new engine. You either have a serious leak, or your engine needs some serious work. |
welcome to the forum. If you now have 25k and no oil leaks from the engine, the piston oil rings have not broken in properly. Need to do a daily or weekly oil check asap. starting with a full oil level, date, time, milage and oil level. This needs to be done before you loose your 3 yr, or 36k miles. When you told your dealer of what the engine was doing, was it recorded. must record all incase you need to present this to American Honda for warranty.
