2006 Accord IPod integration
Hello, I have a 2006 Honda Accord with a factory installed IPod interface. I don't have the Navigation system, so the interface is jut the cord you plug the Ipod into. A couple of days ago the Ipod stopped being recognized by the entertainment system. It used to be that when I plugged in the Ipod, the Ipod screen would alert me that it was ok to disconnect the Ipod and then I could listen to the Ipod over the radio system. But, now when I plug it in, the message no longer appears and the radio doesn't recognize the Ipod. Of course my warranty ran out (36k, and I have 40k already). Is this an easy fix? Anyone have a similar problem? Any ideas for a solution? The auto shop wants to charge me $79 just to diagnose the problem.

welcome to the forum, did you talk to the service dept of your Honda Dealer. Many times if something breaks just after the stock warranty, they will try to do their best to fix the problem, many times at min cost.
They want you to come back and buy another car in the future, and tell your friends.

Thanks for the welcome. Yes I did talk to them. No deals, no sympathy. $79 to diagnose and we go from there. Of course if the car was under warranty the diagnostic would be no charge as I was told. I like your galatians verse. How do you get that under your posts?

RE: 2006 Accord IPod integration
have you tried a different Ipod? was this interface put on after you bought the car or put in buy the dealership? if so then there could be just a loose connection on the back of the radio. does this interface take the place of a changer or is it a truly an "IPod" ready radio? If not a built in Ipod adapter then just the interface could have went out. these normally cost from $100-150 of typical audio shops. if you have any mechanical skills you could check for connections yourself. hope i could be of help.

Thanks to all for the replies. Very helpful. Good idea with the other Ipod. I did try my wife's and no luck. Same result. The Ipod cord is factory install. So, I guess my next step is to root around back of the radio and see if the cord is loose and then look for an interface. I have to wait though, it is very cold here in Illinois!

RE: 2006 Accord IPod integration
I think I'm resigned to getting a new Ipod interface. This would require removal of the radio. Is this an easy task? Any info out there in the ethernet on how this is accomplished? I'm fairly handy and have the tools. My vehicle is a 2006 Honda Accord w/out the Nav radio. I do have the XM radio (which I don't listen to) and 6 CD player. Also, any recommendations on the Ipod interface? Thanks in advance.
