Default 2007 starter burnt up

Had a new starter put in my 2007 Accord. About a month later I was driving down the road and all the dash lights blinked and the car cut out and died. I coasted over and popped the hood and all the wiring coming from the starter was fried along with the negative battery cable. Upon further inspection the starter was fried. O'Rileys replaced the starter as it was under warranty. Nobody had ever seen this before. Do you think I just got a bad starter, or was there something that caused it? Don't want it to happen again. Thought my car was on fire.

They should have opened the thing up and see what caused the short. The manufacturer should replace the burnt cable and all wiring if the starter caused this.
