99 Accord V6 -- Ignition Issue (I think)
Hello,
I have a nagging problem. My car exhibits all the behavior associated with the ignition switch recall on this model; randomly does not start on first try, randomly dies driving.
I replaced the ignition switch and it still happens.
When my car is having this trouble I've noticed (by accident) that leaving the key in the "on" position will eventually trigger something and I can start it. Basically I leave key in that position and the immobilizer light and the dash gear lights will click on (I can hear a click) and once that happens I can start the car.
I only replaced the electric ignition switch and not the key tumbler or anything. Is it possibly the key tumbler? Something I haven't thought of?
Main relay is fine...

I just got a new key but keep it as a spare. I can start using it and see if the problem persists.
Problem is the randomness of occurrence. I drove all the way across the country through mountains and deserts and not a single issue. Then one day last week it happened 3 times....

Switched keys for a few days and it just happened again.
It only seems to die while driving when I'm slowing down for a stop sign. Not sure if that indicates anything.
The cure is to put the key in position II and wait for the D light and immobilizer lights to click on, then it starts. All I have to do is leave the key there and once it clicks it starts right up. Until then it'll crank but not start.
I'm baffled. I've had the starter replaced and I've replaced the electrical portion of the ignition switch.
