Is it bad to drive fast?
 

So I have a 2019 Honda Accord LX 1.5T CVT. I took a 400 mile trip (one way) and did about 85 mph on the highway. My car did fine as it only has 6,000 miles on it. My concern is any internal wear since I drove it that fast and the RPMs were around 3k from what I remember. I did occasionally go to 100 mph while passing some slower people. I don’t really beat my car when driving just love to drive fast and have a passion for driving/cars. So I was just wondering if I did any internal damage by going that fast. Some friends say it’s made to go that fast. (Also was in drive, not Sport)

Having the RPMs go higher will cause more wear than if it was just idling.
That is just physics. However, the wear should be minimal if you took the time to break the engine in correctly.
And do the break in oil change on time.

I did the recommended be light in the brakes for the first 200 miles and then the don’t keep the RPMS at a steady place and no take offs until like 1,500. I did all that and I know the higher the RPMs means more engine wear but I was curious if I damaged my engine or transmission by doing 90 on the highway and 3k on the tach.

since getting my 85 nissan truck brand new, the dealer told me to drive the truck as you normally do daily. so i got on the nearest freeway going home from San Pedro to Hawthorne at 85 mph. Truck maintenance kept up, exact amount of oil in as out. 325k i sold the truck. 02 honda civic, drove car daily to Ontario from Palmdale, drove I-15, no slow driving, no oil burn at 230k, gave my son the civic. my understanding is there in no break in time for the engine like the old days, just drive the car like you normally do. on turbos, allow a few minutes of cool down time or the oil will coke in the hot turbo and eventually lock up the turbo. you did not do any damage to your drive train. do normal maintenance and the car will last over 350k miles.
