Beginning tuning

Hi, I'm new here, and I just got a 02 honda accord ex coupe. I love this car, but I got some plans for it. However, I know very little about cars, and for the purposes of simplicity, lets say I know nothing. I want to trick this thing out, including exterior and performance wise. What should I do to my car? I welcome all suggestions. I was thinking I should get an intake, maybe a cold air intake, but I don't know if I should get cold air, or short ram (I have no idea if I'm calling these by the right name) or which company I should buy it from. I would really appreciate any help. Thanks.

welcome to the forum jjackt11: enjoy your stay. You can look up in ebay and several performance sites for many types of parts. On the intake of your choice there is the short and long air intake. the long intake is good, but must be careful if you live in a flood area, it will suck up water and (hydro-lock) your engine, there is also one with a water bypass, but still be careful. The short stays in the engine compt but does suck warm air in. The exhaust can be headers, with 2 1/2 in pipe or buy the entire kit headers to end pipe. But must besure it will pass smog if your state has it. Do some research, go to honda sites to see if they have picks of your car, and or go to asian car shows and view them. Don't buy the first thing you see, show around for the best performance and looks, and you have to be happy with what you install. Lots that can be done.

So go for cold air intake?

Could you explain this part to me? " The exhaust can be headers, with 2 1/2 in pipe or buy the entire kit headers to end pipe " I've seen pictures so I know what they look like, but what are they?

And I'll have to remove my (I think it's called) factory air box and resonator. What's the resonator? Sorry to be so stupid, I must be a complete idiot, but you got to start learning somewhere no? Hopefully I can take some automotive classes in college and become a little more proficcent. Thanks for all the help

My personal thoughts, the "questions that were not asked is the stupid one" so ask all the questions you need to learn. Also if you get yourself a service manual, and subscribe to an import type magazine, you will get a lot ofinformation.
Yes for cold air intake. Headers normally "tuned" has a feature that draws the exhaust gases of the next cylinder that just release its exhaust gases and so on. If you go to majestic honda.com and go to the parts catalog and put in your information, it will show pictures of what you are asking for. There is no one that is an idiot. Most hondas produced have restrictions to their exhaust, I was told by the service manager that this assisted in better milage. I kind of chuckled at this one.
