Boot on tie rod ends rotted
Thanks for helping me with my carb problems. I would like to ask you guys another question. I was replacing my front brake rotors and noticed that the boot on both tie rods is cracked and rotted. Can I replace just the boot and not the whole tie rod? If so, can I remove the cotter pin and nut and slide the boot on, pushing it toward the steering box?

If there is a way to put a new boot on, good. the boot is to protect the tie rod end of dirt and dust from road driving. if the tie rod is not worn or loose boot change is good. removing the pin and nut is not as easy as said, it may take a tuning fork to separate the tie rod end.

I agree,especially if there is corrosion involved.:D

I'm sorry to sound dumb but could you guys explain a little more about how to get the tie rod end off so I can slide the new boot on? Thanks
