Talking Buying my first Honda! Help me

Hello Honda Forum peeps. I got my tax return and Im buying my first car. I plan on buying a 05-06 Honda that has 95,000 to 125,000 miles on it. Does anyone have any suggestions. I was thinking of more of an Accord then a civic only because its bigger. I was wondering what I should look out for. Are they reliable past 100k miles. What kind of maintenance am I looking at? Should I be buying one from those small little lots or go to an actual dealer. Does anyone have any good quality advice for this Honda virgin. lol. Please help. Im looking to buy one within the next week or so.

the 01-05 civic's had automatic transmission problems along with head gaskit issues also the timing belt and water pump on the 01-05 is due for replacement at 100,000 miles so good luck getting a straight answer if it was ever replaced most of that generation is for sale at that particular mileage because people dont want to pay to have it replaced. the 06 civic had even worse problems with cracking engine blocks.

Welcome to the forum. Civic is grid. Accord is better. I have a 02 civic at 235k +. Still driving good. 5sp. My Fit has 235k+ still running good. Take the car to a mech who knows about Hondas to check it out. Timing belt if it applies. Wheel alignment. Transmission fluid standard or auto. General condition. Who did the previous maint done by whom n what done.

Default 1st Honda

Go with an Accord vs. Civic - and if you can afford it - go with the V-6 - not the 4. Timing belt on any of similar cars recommended to be done at 90K - 110K miles. Check service records to see if that was done - or spring for CArFax (which may or may not indicate it).
