Check fuel cap
Hello, I was wondering if any of the Honda Forum members ever had this message on their Honda Accord. My 2006 Accord began to display this message, "CHECK FUEL CAP". The Cap was securely on. I took it off and retighted. Still had the light. The Malfunction Indicator Lamp is not illuminated. The vehicle runs good. Any ideas? I was thinking of disconnecting the battery and see what happens when I reconnect. Thanks in advance.

gas cap o ring good, and cap secure, sometimes it takes a few runs for the check fuel cap msg to go off. check your fuel system also for line for vapor leaks. ( sniff test )

Can you turn off the malfunction indicator lamp and see if it comes back on since it could be a false indication?

no jpulone you cannot turn off the malfunction indicator lamp, need to tighen the cap first then run the car. sometimes it takes a few startups and run to get rid of the indication light, also this is a April 21,2010 post.
