Fuel consumption

I have a HONDA ACCORD 2008. My fuel consumption is more than 11.5 L per 100 km (city regime) I believe it should be less Does anyone have the same problem? I will appreciate your comments.

4 cylinder or 6?

I used a converter online for mpg to l/100k and according to that my 01 V6 is getting 8.4 to 9.8 depending on whether I'm doing highway or low speed windy country roads. I haven't had my car in a city for years and then ti's always been to drive in and out so a lot of the mileage was driving in and out.

Don't know if that helps you much or not.

Welcome to the forums. 11.5 is close to right.. you should try changing basic filters or doing a routine tune up on the car and your gas mileage will improve

Thank you for your comments. I have a HONDA Accord 4 cyl.

Thank you for your comments. I have thought about it.
I have a warranty but HONDa's technicans don't accept my claims because they don't have any devices to check the fuel consumptions. Also no ones car indicator shows any problem.

Check a few basic things:

Tire pressure correct?

Air filters and spark plugs up to spec? (as the previous poster suggested)

How much stuff is in your trunk? Lots of people carry around "junk" they don't need. Extra weight takes more fuel to move around.

How's your driving style? If you "hotrod" (American slang for take off fast and stop suddenly) it's going to burn more gas ("petrol").

I had a 2003 1.7 liter Civic and IF I drove at modest speeds, it would get 46 mpg on the highway and sometimes 36 mpg in the city. No one else seemed to get so much out of a tank as I did.

Good luck!

GREG
