Low Brake Fluid Causing Trouble?
The VSA & brake lights came on on my wife's 2008 Accord 2.4 when she started it this morning. I asked her how the brakes felt & she said that they were OK. They felt OK to me too. I checked the brake fluid level. It was above the minimum mark, but not up to the top of the bottom half of the master cylinder. We then went out for about 1 1/2 hours. About halfway into the driving, both the lights went out. It then started snowing very heavily. In all the snow & ice, we heard & felt the traction control working OK. I got brake fluid. On the way home, going up a very steep hill on our street, the lights came on again. In our driveway. which is level, I added enough brake fluid to bring the level up to just under the top of the bottom half of the master cylinder. I then idled the car for 5 minutes. No VSA or brake lights on again.
Questions:
1. Could low brake fluid have caused this?
2. When the lights went out after about 45 minutes of driving, would that have been due to the possibility that as the car warmed up, the brake fluid expanded & got to its proper level?
