Mileage drop

Mileage drop
I drive a 6 cylinder 2007 Accord Hybrid. Ordinarily I get around 28-30 mpg the way I drive and the route I generally take back and forth to work. The car has 130K and I was told by the dealer that I should get a new timing belt. So $1400 later (they flushed things out too) I picked up the car and now I have a hard time keeping it over 21 mpg. I brought it back and they told me it was the way I drive. When I told them I have not changed the way I drive in the past two weeks they said that it is because it is winter. (Sixth winter I have owned it.) I don't know what to do. I do not want a car that gets 21 mpg. They obviously did something that affects the mileage when they did the timing belt, right? Anyone out there have any idea what I should tell them to look for? My wife says to suck it up and accept that mileage because it will be to expensive to get the car back to the way it was before the dealer fixed it.

I can't think of what they could have done to change the mileage, when they change the belt they should have changed the water pump ,and maybe the belts and hoses. I would change the fuel filter and see if that helps.

they probably reset the ECU either manually or by disconnecting the battery during the service. this would cause the computer to have to re-learn the fuel curve which could take days weeks then couple that with the colder denser winter air and winter gas blend. there is a proper re-learn procedure which you can try yourself after resetting the ecu which they probably didn't do.or you could just wait awhile for it to re-learn itself. ps make sure you have the security code for the radio if you decide to disconnect the battery or you won't be able to listen to it.
