I have some problems with my accord its a 91 accord ex-r, about 2 months ago when started my car it starts no problem but when in park or nuteral the engine when up to 2500 then down to 1000 up and down. when in drive it was fine. this weekend it started to do in drive and my spedometer went to 0 while driving and then came back. the rpm gage moved correctly, the engine light has been on since i got the car 3 years ago do to something to do with the emissions. i have not lost any power and the car starts all the time

have to add some more problems that started this weekend,when i am driving the "S" light starts flashing and my car speedometers stops working, and comes back every once in a while. it never has a hard time starting except twice this summer, it did that S flasing and start 10 mins later, never happened after that

 

try putting it in neutral and if it has a shift lock {key slot in the shifter base) insert your ignition key into that slot and try to put it into park or put it into park and insert the key (with car off) and pull into neutral try this not postitve if it will fix your problem but its worth a shot also keep in mind that it could be a sign of alternator goin bad

I have a 91 Honda Accord that did the same thing.
It sounds like your CPU is going bad. They are about $100 and are located under the carpet on the passenger side right under the dash. At first my Honda's speedometer started going crazy then a few days later the rpm did the same thing and the S light was always on. Eventually it wouldn't go into 2nd gear. When I replaced the CPU all was fine. Hope this helps.

 

try changing your pcv valve buy it at honda.About your speedometer problem is yor engine light remain on while your driving? if so turn on your iginition (dont start the engine) pull down the carpet on the driver side , you will see a small glass window, ifred light is flashing read the code and replace what ever sensor its calling for. it sounds like you have a faultyspeed sensor.

 

I have a 91" accord ex and soundz like your speed censor is going bad. you said that it was working then going out. thats because it is fluctuating. the speed censor is located on the top side of your transmission. try changing that out and see what that does for your speedometer problem...hope i helped...
