possible stuck fuel gauge
99 accord 2.3 , seems my fuel gauge is stuck on full, drove about a 100 miles and it hasn't moved at all , not even the slightest amount , I understand the sending unit is in the fuel tank . my question is ...how hard of a job is it ? could it possibly be the gauge itself as I have noticed when I fill up it takes awhile to show full , very very slowly does it finally show full thanks for any help

before you change anything on your accord, my 92 accord did the same thing, i drove 125 miles before my gauge would move off the peg. also slow to register when filling up fuel, but after a few months of driving i got use to the accuracy of the gauge. never have run out of gas in 4 yrs of ownership. i did let it run down to the warning light going on. i aslo carried 2 gal spare gas can full until i got use to how the fuel system worked. but to change the sending unit, you can get access from the trunk.

I had the fuel gauge on two of my vehicles quit working and put in a can of Seafoam to a full tank and it fixed both of them. Good stuff. |
thanks for the replies, I have heard that using seafoam or marvel mystery oil could possibly take care of the problem, i'll give one or the other a try , I guess things could get gummed up even in the tank

Seafoam will clean the sensor in the tank. |
I did try seafoam and it just might have fixed the problem , gauge started moving down at around 90 miles.. i'll just have to watch and see in the weeks to come , thanks for all the help

If the sensor is really gummed up it may take two bottles of Seafoam,Walmart sometimes has it for $7.95 |
