Default RADIO blind

Guys,

My mom's 03 Accord EX Sedan seems to have radio troubles. I can hear the radio but I can't see the display. I've looked through the manual but there is no reference as to turning on/off/dimming the LED for the radio. Is this correct, there is no such thing? Is it most likely that the LED has gone out on the radio? It's the stock radio that came with the car when they bought it. It also has a 6 CD changer. I've tried pretty much everything, from turning the key position to I and II and on.

By a gazillionths of a chance, am I just missing something that would allow me to see the audio display?

If it is the case, that the LED has crapped out, what would it cost to get it repaired?

Thanks.

I would check with the known recalls because apparently this is a common problem for this radio. My radio had the same problem before I bought it and the dealer took care of the problem. My dad said they mentioned the problem in Consumer Reports. With that being said, it may be easy to find some more information about it on the internet; at least something that can tell you if you are able to fix it or you have to take it to the shop. All I can say is hope it's listed as a recall. I don't know much more about it.
