Sudden power loss, 2009 V-6 Accord

I have a 2009 V-6 Accord, with about 110k miles on it when this happened a few months ago. I was pulling out of a parking lot on to the road, and suddenly the engine warning light came on and I lost most but fortunately not all power. The car was running very roughly, and would barely idle. By chance, I was only 2 miles from the dealer, so I limped over there. Along the way, the antiskid warning also came on. After a few minutes with the mechanic, the service writer explained that there was a service bulletin on this. They reprogrammed the engine computer, replaced two plugs, no charge. Been running fine since, though I no longer get the Econ light at idle when is used to switch to 3 cylinders. I am curious whether this is common? I was spectacularly lucky, but two months earlier I was in the middle of a very empty western state where I would have had the car towed 100-200 miles to the nearest Honda dealer.

After nearly 300 view, no comments. That tells me that the situation I encountered must be vanishingly rare. Sincere thanks to all who read my post, and best for the New Year.
