Thinking about getting a 1994 Accord
Hi Folks! This is my first post here. Im thinking about swapping my 2003 Crown Vic police interceptor with 153,000 miles on it for a 1994 Accord with 190,000 miles on it.
The Crown Vic needs maintenance up the ying yang. Its a good car but it was a cop car for 100,000 miles and then a taxi for 50K miles. It was abused and I tried to bring her back to normal but its costing too much. I LOVE the ride and its actually a car that handles great especially for its size! Pick up ROCKS.
Anyhow..... I cant afford to keep repairing every little darn thing that comes up.
So this guy wants to trade with me and give me a $1000. I think thats fair but I have NO idea what to look for on an Accord to know if its good.
Im BEGGING for your help so I dont screw up again and get a car that I have to sink a ton of dough into. [:@]
help!

RE: Thinking about getting a 1994 Accord
welcome to the forum, and enjoy your stay. Make sure everything on the accord works. Ask when the timing belt was last changed, due ea 60k miles, look for oil leaks under the car, wet oil spots around the timing cover, under the oil pan area, and between the trans and eng case. Look for wires that are added, or missing parts under the hood, check the conditon of the exhaust system. Ask when the radiator was last changed, or serviced or both. When was the brakes last changed, during the test drive check for how the car drives. do slow turns and fast turns listening for clicking noise on the half shafts. check the trans oil to see when it was last changed or burnt.

Also check with edmunds.com and navigate your way thru car buying tips, http://www.carbuyingtips.com/used.htmis another one to check, and get a free car history search thru the web site. You don't want to buy a slightly watered down car..
