Unable to Perform System Updates Via USB
I want to perform system updates via USB for my 2025 Accord Touring Hybrid.
I don't wish to use WiFi because it (probably) requires that I enable data sharing with Honda, something I am reluctant to do. I disabled data sharing with Honda as soon as I took delivery of the vehicle. This might explain why performing system updates via WiFi fails for me.
To perform system updates via USB, I am following directions from Honda [ [url]https://usb.honda.com/ ]. Curiously, there are no instructions for performing system updates in my Owners Manual.
I followed the directions to prepare the USB flash drive, and inserted the drive into the Accord's USB data port as instructed. Next, I am instructed to bring the USB drive to my computer and search for a folder called HondaSoftwareUpdates or rb. Neither folder exists on the drive, and the required file (update_by_USB or update_by_USB.json) isn't anywhere else on the drive.
So I'm stuck. Has anyone else updated their vehicle's software via USB, and if so, can you advise me what else I can do?

I solved this problem ... but not in the manner I wanted it to be solved.
I solved the problem by temporarily creating a new profile. A new profile, of course, has default settings. I was able to install the update with the new profile, which means that one or more settings in my actual profile - which is severely locked down - were preventing the update from installing.
I'm unhappy because, despite Honda's own instructions [ https://usb.honda.com/ ] you cannot in fact install updates for the 2025 Accord Touring Hybrid with a USB drive. They can only be installed via WiFi.
For my vehicle, the only thing that you can do with a USB drive is to hold media for playback in the car.
P.S. You probably already know this: Installing updates changes some of your car's settings.
