1984 honda civic strut info
hi i am in the market for new struts for my 1984 honda civic 1.5 hatch. i got a deal on ebay for a set of tokico struts the HP series for $260. that figures out to be $65 a piece. what i was wondering is if that is a deal and also if there is another brand of struts that are comparable to tokico. i just want something a little nicer than the original struts but im not looking for anykind of performance struts. thanks for reading

the stock struts are gone and i just wanted something better than just replacing them. thanks for the reply btw. also is it possible to change out the struts by myself? i have very limited mechanical experience and just the basic tools. how difficult is it to replace struts?

If you have basic tools bring it to a shop or at least a friend who can do this SAFELY. Struts are not like shocks. The spring is attached with the mount and if you take out that top nut there is a lot of tension there and potential for that mount to end up implanted in your chest causing you to have a very bad day. If you really want to do this yourself at least do the free tool rental at Auto Zone or Advance. Good luck!
