2004 Civic EX - Dash Light problem
 

I bought a used 2004 Civic EX and have noticed that I cannot see some of the dash controls at night even with the lights on. I would expect these buttons to light up some so that I can tell where they are, but they are dark except for the ones with LED lights.

These controls are as follows:

On the left side of the steering wheel:

-Cruise Control Button (LED lights when ON, but otherwise can't see the button)
-Moon roof control
-Mirror control works (MIRROR is lit up in the dark)


On the dash below the radio (On all of these, the LED lights up when the button is pressed, but is otherwise dark and you cannot see the buttons):

-Recirc control
-A/C button
-Rear defrost

I tried looking at the fuse schematics but can't see anything that would be an easy fix for those lights. Do they even light up? If so, does anyone have any ideas on what and how to fix it?

welcome to the forum. Perhaps some the regular bulbs might be burnt out behind the buttons

I have the same problem with my 2003. The bulbs behind the dash that illuminate those buttons no longer work is the problem. I personally haven't bothered to get mine fixed as the dealership wants a lot of $$$ as they usually do, and its not really worth it just to get some buttons to illuminate.

If I were you I wouldn't bother paying $$$ fixing it, and just get to know where the buttons are so it is easier to find them at night. :)

I am also facing the same problem. Cruise button, Sun roof button & rear defrost buttons are not glowing in the night. All others are glowing. Dealer wants $39 for each of those. I have Honda extended warranty and dealer says this will not be covered under that warranty.
