2005 civic lx won't start

Okay it's a 2005 Honda civic lx. With over 160000 miles on it. It has a brand new battery and starter. Won't turn on anymore. When I go to turn the car on all it makes is a clicking sound and all the the meters go all the way to the right. Someone please help

welcome to the forum. Are the battery terminals and connections clean, not look clean, scrubbed clean with wire brush, or tool. Has the timing belt been changed recently.

I have cleaned the battery terminals and connections but I have not changed the timing belt
Yet how much do those go for$$$ ?

you need to check to see if the timing belt has jumped a tooth or more, and look at the timing markes to see if they are aligned. Need to refer to a service manual, I gave mine away so don't remember.

How would the timing belt jumping a tooth stop the car from turning over. Souds like and electrical issue between the igntion and starter.

- Clean battery terminals with a ire brush and try again
- Clean all ground connnections (on the block / frame / maybe starter if yours is set up that way) Try again.
- Try jumping it and see if more juice helps.
- If all this works then it's the ignition switch or the starter going out.

good luck.

the timing belt was due at 110,000 miles if it is the belt and it did jump teeth then that means your engine is completely ruined and will need replacement. when the belt goes on these cars it causes catastrophic engine damage like bent valves and damaged cylinders from the two coming into contact with each other.
