2007 Civic LX door lock problem

Hi everyone, new poster on this forum, I was perusing the forums last night, but time to register and get answers. :)
My daughter has an 07 Civic, problem is that her door lock quit working with the key last night, we got my son through the trunk to open the car so we could pull it in the garage, naturally this set off her alarm.
Anyways, what are my options?
1) As I understand it the lock cores are coded with numbers? If I pull the lock core and have my title will Honda just be able to sell me a correct replacement lock core/tumbler? It looks like a PITA to
get the lock out of the door (watched a youtube video last night)....
2) The car was a repo from an auction, we have never had pushbutton key remote. I see there are blank ones on Amazon, etc. I saw a video where a guy did a sequence with the car key in various positions/etc. to mate a new remote key to the car. It doesn't solve the problem of having a new blank key cut to the car. But, she is good with having a blank key as an extra with her on the keychain just to have the remote enabled for her doors? Am I correct with this info as well?

Thanks for any help you guys can give me in advance, Chris....

welcome to the forum. you might try a good lock smith, some may have the ability to make the key, program it and get a fob for you all to match for less than a dealer. my Fit needed a key due to the (driver side) lock was becoming difficult to open so the dealer charged me 90.00 for the key and 150.00 to program the 1 key.. did not need a driver side door lock.
