2014 Honda Civic
Hi all - 1st time post
Bought a 2014 Civic Sedan in May. Was getting about 27 mpg in the summer/fall. We're having a stretch of real cold weather - about 10-15 degrees. Noticed that the mileage has gone down to about 16. (My old BMW gets better mileage!) It's been a lot of stop and go traffic - but to lose 11 mpg seems ridiculous for a 4 cylinder car with no extras in it. Any advice or has anyone else experienced same? Thanks! |
welcome to the forum if your car has a warranty tell the dealer about what is happening if no warranty check air filter, tire pressures, trans fluid level.

cold air will dramatically drop the mpg in multiple ways not to mention your using a winter blend gasoline which also drops mpg. also you shouldn't be idling to warm the car up in the morning just get in and drive. you don't use high octane gas do you ??? these cars need regular low octane fuel using a higher grade will give you worse performance i say this because the drop in gas prices mite make you want to use a higher grade.
