2005 civic vp coupe 152000 miles does it make any sense that they would both go off at the same time?? $2000.00 on a ten year old thats worth $4500 on a trade ?? Thoughts ?? cam sensor / cat conv.

well first of all what what exactly were the fault codes that were given and second 2,000 dollars is way way to much for those parts granted an new OEM cat for that model is the most expensive at $500 dollars because its integrated with the header but installation is 5 nuts and bolts. the cam sensor is a pain to replace but the sensor itself is cheap around $50 dollars.

$1000 for changing out cam sensor. The codes they came up with PO139 PO339 PO340 They replaced rear 02 and cam sensor. Just after that the light came on again within 24 hrs PO 420 estimate given for that was approx. $900 Car runs like new no diff in gas mileage. This is what raises the question keep it or dump it ?

there is no rear cat on a dx,lx,vp its integrated with the header only the ex has a rear cat. the o2 sensor is located on the header unless you mean secondary o2 ??? the p0420 could either mean the o2 sensor itself or a bad cat but like i said before the oem cat only cost 500 bucks. im in the wrong business i could be making gs off of lies. side note never take your car to a honda dealer for repairs they will almost certainly rip you off. fuk a $1000 dollars for a cam sensor you got had man.

Rear 02 sensor not cat but the same question remains keep it or dump it? Maybe it's just bad luck that both items came up at once. The car is in pristine cond garaged since day 1 Id like to think it still has at least another 100k in it

well these items do fail after a certain mileage just like most other regular maintenance items. are you incapable of replacing the cat yourself i mean its only held on with 5 nuts and bolts its a very easy job then you can scrap the old cat for some decent $$ there's platinum inside them.
