Civis sport 2019 No start
Took the car to dealer for random no start problem, seems to happen when car has been driven and parked for a short time. Doesn't happen when the car has been parked for an extended time and engine is cold. Dealer replaced start button and problem persists. Anyone have any ideas what this could be. Battery less than yr. Old, starter, starter solenoid all checked and good. Side note, problem started after it was in body shop for front quarter panel and bumper damage to be repaired.

No start hot soak I would look at scan data during the event. Do you see RPM while cranking? No, crank sensor.

Random or intermittent no start is tough to diagnose.
But, the first thing to do is be ready to do some tests when it does happen. With test light, test for spark and injector pulse If no spark then ignition system must be looked at If no fuel injector pulse then must look at fuel system If both no fuel injector pulse and no spark then suspect the crankshaft sensor Heat soaked engine could be crank sensor but must also remember that the engine does get hot while running Does the engine ever stall? If this began after body shop then might suspect corrosion Possible certain areas were left exposed to weather?? So, would clean up battery posts and cable terminals. Check insulation under/passed cable crimps. Check and clean the grounds wires and chassis contacts. This helps eliminate some electrical issue. |
