DIY question - trying to set up an iPhone plug-in for my Honda Civic LX 2002
Hi everyone:
I should confess that I got fed up with listening to the same music on FM stations as much as I got tired of playing old CD's over and over again in my Honda Civic LX 2002 coup (2-door model). I read somewhere that it may be possible to set up a connector wire to hook up my iPhone to play through the car's stereo. The problem is that I can't seem to find a way to pull the stereo out (well, without ripping open the front panel). Take a look, I made a picture of how it looks: http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s...ic_lx_2002.jpg The stereo itself: http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s...02_sterepo.jpg and http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s...epo_opened.jpg I should also say that I am not the original owner of this Civic -- I got it with the aftermarket stereo installed (that unfortunately does not have a round 3.55 mm plug-in for the iPhone in the front). What I was hoping to do is to take that stereo out and study if I may be able to plug into it from the back :) and in that case be able to wire out an extension for an easy connection to an iPhone. Any ideas how to do it? |
jesus with the spaming. anyway in order to get the radio out you have to star by removing the lighter trim seen here. http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2592209 as for the radio you can just google the make and model of the radio to see if it supports ipod connections. when you go looking for a new radio find one that connects using an ipod cable this way you can control the ipod from the radio and it will sound 100 times better then a jack plug. also you can run the wire into the glove box letting you keep the ipod in there thats what i did.
