OBD2 and state inspection ??? NJ
 

Iam working on a friends 2000 Civic ex .he needs to go thru stateinspection but the inspection machine that thestate has keeps saying obd2 not ready ??? I have never heard of this other than it loseing power to the port. anyone come acrossed this before ?? if so can someone point me in the right direction so I can help him out and fix it for him. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

OBD II not ready is that all it says or does it list of the things that aren't ready such as Cat, egr, etc.... Has the MIL come on recently and the code been cleared or did your friend do the disconect the battery trick. I'm assuming you have power to the OBD II port. If you had a check engine light on prior to inspection then he needs to drive 50+ miles to go through all its readiness checks if the light comes back before 50 miles then you need pull the code and fix the problem. If none of this helps then you may want to take the car to HONDA.
