Default Parts from dealership or buy somewhere else

Hi everyone, total newbie here, so please bear with my possible face palm questions. I went to get regular engine oil change and routine maintenance for 2013 Honda civic basic model, and turns out, I needed air filter and cabin filter which both ran for about $45 and $75. I did get it this time, but I was thinking damn that was expensive! I'm sure it's not rocket science to change those, do you suggest just buying parts from store and doing it yourself? Thanks guys.

i doubt you actually needed a new air filter or cabin filter but yes of course its cheaper to buy after market filters and oil and do it yourself. honda is not in the oil manufacturing business they buy there oil from oil companies there is nothing special about the engine oil or air filters.
