Is it possible to replace the built in backup camera? Mine is WAY too dark.

Hello everyone,

I had a 2013 Honda Civic, but it was sadly totaled earlier this year. I loved the design of it though, so instead of upgrading, I got another Civic of the same generation but different year.

The backup camera on my 2013 was perfect... this 2014 one is such bull**** that it's only a matter of time till it causes an accident. It underexposes EVERYTHING -2 stops, no exaggeration. It's almost useless. Any time there is a shadow, it shows up as black and devoid of detail, and the brighter the day is, the worse it gets! I'm pretty damn pissed because my 2013 one didn't have any of these problems even once and now it's like I don't even have a backup camera at all.

What do you think I should do in this case? I don't know much about cars at all if we're being honest. Can I buy the Honda Civic 2013 whole camera kit and try installing that? I tried looking for a TSB about this but don't see anything. Really, in it's current state, it might as well not even be there. It massively underexposes all the time.

Vwelcome in,I can't find anything on diy replacement but did get the cost and estimated labor at close to $500. If it were me I would try replacing it with a salvage camera, once it's in your hands it might give a clue to how it mounts, shouldn't be to hard.
