Small button in coin tray - What does it do?

Small button in coin tray - What does it do?
I was working under my steering wheel in my 2004 Civic EX and noticed that inside of the coin tray there is a tiny little button on the top. It doesnt seem to come into contact with the coin tray itself so its not for a light or anything and there is a wire connected to it in the back. I can't figure out what it does though. Any ideas?
