Default spedometer jumps then check engine light comes on

I put a new motor (1.5 L) in my 95 civic dx a couple months ago. the car was running fine other than loping a little bit when it idles (still does it. anyone know how to fix that?) but when i drive it for about 30-40 minutes, my spedometer starts to jump and then drops and the check engine light comes on. anyone have any ideas? thanks....

you should check the connector plug to your vehicle speed sensor... look for corrosion or a loose connection... the vss is usually located on the rear side of your engine bay on the tranny, close to where the axles go into the tranny. if all that looks good you could replace the sensor... i suggest a new one, not one from a junk yard

Your problem is you don't have enough horsepower you need to add more stickers and a three layer wing that should get you where you need to be.
