Sudden Unintended Acceleration
I bought my brand new Honda Civic LX 2024 last Sunday and the following Thursday it suddenly revved up and accelerated into the closed steel garage door and the fire wall of my house. I had my foot on the brake all the time while sitting on the driway waiting for my son to open the garage door from the inside of the garage. I had my foot on the brake on impact as well. The car had only 170 miles. I had Honda Civic 2006 prior to this car. I drove it for 18 years and have never been in any accident. I have never had an accident in my 20- year driving experience.
I did NOT accidentally stepped on the wrong pedal and there was NO floor mat to blame.

Isn't modern technology a fun experience. Maybe not so much Huh
It's scary. The Enterprise rental car driver who was giving me a ride said one of their clients had a similar issue two months ago, when trying to park at the shopping center, the car accelerated into the car in front of them. I don't know what car they had. But it happens more than car manufacturers are willing to admit.
I feel I should update the thread with the new information.
I hired a private EDR technician to read the black box containing the crash data from my vehicle. The data suggested the acceleration pedal was pressed and no brake was engaged.
A hard pill to swallow...but looks like I don't need to get rid of the car instead learn how to drive it.
