Default Tips to 2014 Honda Civic LX VST & Fuel Economy

Hi friends,

I just bought a 2014 Civic LX and the selling point was the CVY transmission.

However, Im having a hard time getting anything better than 26 mpg in Econo Mode.

Im a bit upset about that as Im driving like a pussycat, driving very conscious of when its in "green" mode to save as much as I can.

I took it back to the dealership and they were baffled so they gave it a tire inspection and had a tech drive it for 50 miles.

Surely enough, he was clocking 38.5 mpg during his trip.

What am I doing wrong? Any tips?

welcome to the forum. just a few items that may help. tire pressure 36, if you're at 32, the tire outer sides will ware faster than the center. oil to use 0w-20 mobil, car clean and polished, air filter clean, drive with 1 foot, milage for honda normally best at 60-70. 80 starts to consume more fuel to push the car through the air. get from start to normal running speed as soon as you can without a burn out. our hr-v with the cvt gets 30 mpg cith/highway with a/c on but wife drives to get out of lower to higher gear as fast as traffic is movig.
