why is my radio reception so bad?
<P>I have an 03 civic, when I had the factory radio in it, the reception was great, never got any static.&nbsp\\; Couple months ago I installed an Alpine CDA-9857 headunit.&nbsp\\; My reception is now terrible, I get static on both AM and FM channels.&nbsp\\; I have checked all my connections and everything seems tight.</P>
<P>&nbsp\\;</P>
<P>This is a really annoying problem.&nbsp\\; Anyone have any suggestions?&nbsp\\; Is there an antenna booser out there or a different antenna i can install?&nbsp\\; I have read threads about this and how some people say window tinting hurts their reception, and I am still lost.</P>
<P>&nbsp\\;</P>
<P>Any help or ideas would be great.</P>
<P>&nbsp\\;</P>
<P>Thanks</P>

RE: why is my radio reception so bad?
If the radio has static, engine not running, nothing else on clean the antenna connection with a spray cleaner then recheck.I did read a lot of positive inputs, good reviews on this HU. Also if you can, clean and recheck all connections first. This radio could be a lot more sensative then the factory stock. after cleaning every connection up to the antenna.

try a place like radio shack, and tell them what is happening, they should know what product to use. I use a commercial electrical spray cleaner used on aircraft, this cleans the terminals very clean.
