Default 1999 Accord w/ 300K miles!

I was thinking about trading it in for my 2003 Crown Vic with 153K miles on it.
I guess the top part of the engine was rebuilt and the tranny was too.
Whatchu guys think? Its an EX with I think cloth seats. 2.3L 4 cyl.
I need advice! [&:]

make sure the timing belt, water pump, crankseal and camseal's have been changed, also do a good look at the entire car. If these were highway miles, not to bad, Also if the car has all its maintenance records weather the owner did it or a shop. Lot less gas consumption then the crown vic. Also less maintenance. Check to see if any recalls. ( internet has them listed ) otherwise the accord will be a good car.Get a car fax ( found free on the internet )

Carfax is not a must, it just may tell you that the car was in a big accident or flood, or in california, it tells you if a smog was failed or registration was missed.. If you search the internet, its for free, can't go wrong with the price. The seals can be viewed by taking the upper plastic cover off and view the timing belt, also waterpump condition..might have a little difficulty looking at black seals, need a strong light, or ask the ower for the receipt for the parts and labor. Or is this a used car dealer???

Nope. Its a private seller. I cant stand buying from dealerships. Thing is I have no background with Honda engines. Is it easy to take off the plastic cover? Heck I dont even know what to look for on the chain. Is it a timing BELT? or an actual chain? If its good or bad what would itlook like? And the water pump... is it even possible to tell if its in good shape? *banging head on desk*

it is a belt, if it is a private seller, they should have the maintenance records. Go to an auto parts house and ask them to show you a new 99 honda timing belt.
I beleive there is 1 or 2 bolts to remove to take the the upper part of the timing cover off to view. If you go to the library, they should have some chilton or hanes or some type of repair manual to view to help you out. Also if you go to the internet site and type in 99 accord timing belt, other than parts, there maybe a site as to how to change it. I would not recommend to do this but to view and learn. Don't bang head, only creates head aches, but see a lot of stars.
