93 Starter problems
Hi everyone, I am new to this forum But not to working on cars. The Honda Civic wont start. I think the starter is bad...it is getting current (went with the screw driver and arced it out,,, My question is ...is it a 2 piece starter where the soloniod does not have to be removed. Its in a strang place and I am not sure what I have to take off to check it. Any suggestions?

welcome to the forum. Looking at the 93 civic starter, it appears to me the solenoid is attatched to the starter motor togeather.

has there been any other issues with these starters? I have checked the clutch switch and fuse. The solinoid is getting juice. My best guess is to take it off and replace. What do you think?

ok, starter is good. Now what.
|
if starter is good, and gear comes out to engage the flywheel, check the teeth on the flywheel and see if any are damaged. This would cause the starter to engage and spin, unable to turn the flywheel. Flywheel damage normally caused by trying to restart the engine when already running.
