Default 94 civic ex idle problem

hi, i have a 94 civic ex 1.6 vtec.
for some reason it has a idle problem when you first start it when the motor is cold. the idling stops after the motor is warmed up.

i cleaned my throttle body and iac valve and the idle problem is still there.

this is when you first start the car.

this is after the motor has been warmed up

any help would be great. thanks

My error, Looked up more info, your model does not have one, the vx and hx has them. you have a pcv on the im area, clean that out make sure valve is free. Also if you go to autozone.com and register for free, you can go to repair to get more info.

i cleaned it out. there was some gunk build up on it so used a blade to scrub it off. put it in and it still continues to idle like that. any other ideas?

check your vavle adj. tight exhaust valves can cause low idle when cold the car will also stall. if you dont know how you may want to pay to have it so you dont cause more problems shouldn't be more than 100$

Try changing your throttle position sensor.(TPS)

Default Its normal

well not 100% normal. sometimes this can be caused by old vacuum lines wearing and become thin. during the colder seasons the get cold and compress causing the car to idle weird. all of my cars do it and its nothing to worry and it wont damage the motor (unless you redline the car while it cold )

also if im not mistaken on some of the older models of civic (not sure what years i dont anything newer than a 93) cars were programmed to idle low during the colder season, causes them to head up slower but makes less wear and tear on the block and internals (not sure how true this is one of my friends that works for honda told me this)
