was helping a friend who ran out of gas and while taking a container of gas to him some spilled out when I hit the brake hard . now there is a bad gas smell inside the car , I have to drive with the window down to even have a chance of getting anywhere ,,, that would be ok but it's winter and in the 20's..any idea on how to get the smell out ? fast ? I have no heated garage

 

Remove carpet and wash with soap and water
Or replace carpet.
Covering up the carpet with mats will not remove smell.
Gas smell will last forever in car if the source is not removed.
