Gasoline Engine Oil for Accord 2001 model
I recently bought used Honda accord 2001 model. According to the user manual, Premium grade SAE 5W-20 is recommended oil for Honda accord 2001 model for low temperature region. Can this oil be used when the car is driven in area of Temperature 32 degrees centigrade and above, like here in Nigeria? Is premium grade SAE 20W-50 a better option. Or is the 5W-20 a general purpose engine oil irrespective of the temperature of the area.
Guide me please! Ifeanyi |
Hi Ifeanyi...SAE 20W - 50 is grade oil common in temprate regions. Have you noticed how Vegetable oil cakes during cold season. Now that is what happens to Oils with SAE 40W ratings. Now for Nigeria look for oils with SAE 20W - 40 ratings they serve the same purpose as the SAE 20W - 50 oils used in the Region where your Honda 2001 was made. Oils with SAE 20W - 40 ratings have Oil treatments that keeps the oil from caking in your bottom plate or drying up when driving long distances.
