Transmission problem 2003 honda civic 2003

my trans is having problems shifting, can anyone give me some suggestions? thanks

there's a very small chance it could be the a shift silinoid but given the fact that the 01-05 had faulty transmissions your only real options are finding a replacement transmission preferably from an 04-05 which utilised a larger internal filter to help the problem which was really just a band-aid or have your transmission rebuilt which would be my last choice. i would find a used low mileage 2005. people are going to recommend having the transmission machine flushed or having the fluid changed both of those options will not help because if its slipping then the damage to the clutch packs are already done. when was the last time you changed the transmission fluid ???

I believe it is starting to slip. I had transmission changed a little over a year ago,not sure how the previous owner took care of it. I was actually gonna try changing the fluid, but now that you say this, guess best to look for new trans. I actually have a problem with a small oil leak that nobody can find, maybe I should get rid of it before putting a new trans in. What do you suggest? & thanks for replying

I would replce the transmission if you can find one at a reasonable price.

i believe the cost of a used trans job would be around $1,500-$2,000 dollars so thats probably the cheapest way to go. as for the oil leak i would probably guess it coming from the rear cam seal plug wich cost 10 dollars. the cam plugs always leak on hondas.

Not sure its worth fixing, its a good car, but my car is that dark blue color, & my paint has been coming off for over a year, makes car look horrible. I will get that can seal fixed. Thanks for help, hopefully that's where the leak is.

well if the cars aesthetics if of more importance to you then monetary savings then im guessing we couldn't change your preferences if we tried.
