Where's the oil coming from? Video, please help!
Hi everyone. I'm replacing the engine in an 07 CRV and can't understand where this oil leak is coming from. It appears to be coming from the motor mount bracket that is bolted to the side of the timing chain cover. I think it's coming right through the bolt holes, but that area of the engine isn't as wet as the lower portion of the timing cover. It seems like a slow leak, but it covered the whole side of the engine and I really want to fix it now while it's out of the car. Here's a video that shows what I'm dealing with:

welcome to the forum. Oil leak that old needs to be cleaned off good and run for oil leak. Oil can trickle down as you say, or trickle up or go sideways. on

I agree ,clean it up and look closely for a leak. My truck had a leak on the ground and when I put it on the rack it looked like a rear main, but when I cleaned everything up it was a leak from the valve cover.

I second bucwheat and acmech. Valves spin FAST and throw oil EVERYWHERE. Have you ever accidentally forgot to put the oil fill plug back on the valve cover?? I have and there was oil in parts of that damn motor I didn't know existed.
