whining noise

Hey all :) I have a '99 Accord DX that makes a whining noise only when the car is moving. It increases in volume when I apply the brakes, but not in pitch, and it does not get higher/lower or louder with speed. I checked the pads, there is still meat on them though they will need to be changed before too much longer. Any suggestions? Thanks...

welcome to the forum. the brake pads have a piece of metal, "tattle tail" makes a high pitch sound to advise you that the pad is getting close to change time. and it does get louder when the brake is applied. it is on one side of the pad, usually the inside pad. check to see if it is wearing on the rotor.

One of the clips could have come loose in the brakes.

If that was the case wouldn't the sound change as you went faster? Wouldn't it get higher in pitch? I'll check it out for sure, there's meat on the pads but they do need to be changed. I'll just go ahead and change them all out. Thanks guys, have a great day!

Yes, there may be a metal piece or screw come in or under the brakes. There may be other issue so check it carefully. If you thinking about change or replace it there are so much performance part that can improve such problems and also increase performance and life span of your car.
